Where We Intersect: Exploring Anti-Racism through a Food Justice Lens

What does fighting for food access have to do with fighting racism? When is anti-racism more than challenging slurs and deeply-held beliefs? Does your non-profit think anti-racism and equity are "somebody else's lane"? On August 27, we invite you to explore how access to food intersects with anti-racism, justice, and equity. Staff from Food Lifeline will dispel the common belief that racial equity is separate from their mission to end hunger. They will also share early efforts and lessons learned on the road to building a culture of food justice at their organization. We invite people from the food world to discuss their own organization's work towards justice. Small groups will discuss how to connect any non-profit's mission to anti-racism. Come prepared with your organization’s mission statement if you’d like to discuss it and please bring your thoughts, ideas, and questions for the large group. Parking, Directions, and Accessibility  The facility has a parking lot. Visitors can park anywhere that doesn't say staff-only. Limited street parking available nearby on 8th Ave S. Transit: The building is a 10 minute walk from the 132 bus. It's about a 20 minute walk from the 60. Enter the building from the main entrance facing the parking lot. The meeting room is to the right as you enter.  There are no stairs to climb at this venue. This is an active food distribution warehouse. Please follow any safety instructions given by staff. Please refrain from wearing scent or cologne in consideration of anyone with sensitivity to fragrance.
