The Power of the Mind - Workshops on Buddhist Meditation & Psychology

About the Workshops Morning Workshop | Meditation: Beyond the Basics Some meditation practices, such as meditating on the sensation of the breath, are very simple and accessible. With regular practice, meditation is an incredibly effective way to handle stress and develop a more relaxed, positive and caring attitude. The morning teachings will explore how to design an inspiring and effective structure that sustains a regular meditation practice. Come to this practical workshop to take your meditation practice to the next level! Afternoon Workshop | Buddhist Psychology: A Seven-Fold Division of Mind Countless thoughts and feelings ceaselessly arise and subside within the mind. Which of them dependably lead to peace of mind and happiness? Buddha explained a seven-fold division of mind that guides us in evaluating which states of mind are truly reliable and beneficial, helping us to overcome our own suffering and help others to do the same. Through exploring and meditating upon these teachings, we can develop insights that lead us toward the inner change we seek. This is an essential topic for those wishing to understand the depth of Buddha's teachings on the potential of the mind. About the Teacher Gen Kelsang Khedrub, a Western Buddhist monk, is the Resident Teacher at Kadampa Meditation Center Washington in Seattle. He has been studying and practicing Kadampa Buddhism under Geshe Kelsang Gyatso’s guidance for many years. His heartfelt teachings are presented with clarity and humor that make them accessible to everyone. Through his kindness, humility and deep understanding of Buddha’s teachings, Gen Khedrub provides an inspiring example of a contemporary Buddhist practitioner we can follow. Cost $45 for both workshops ($25 for supporters of Kadampa Meditation Center WA). $30 for either morning-only or afternoon-only workshop ($20 for supporters) $5 for lunch (please pre-register) Schedule Morning workshop Session 1 - 9:00-10:15am | Session 2 - 10:45am-12:00pm Lunch @ 12:30pm Afternoon workshop Session 1 - 2:00-3:15pm | Session 2 - 3:45-5:00pm
