Extra Credits x Idle Champions Game Design Party - PAX West

Extra Credits and Idle Champions of the Forgotten Realms (by Codename Entertainment) are teaming up on hosting a PAX West party this year! Attend interactive, informative panels on game design, network with fellow players and devs, and enjoy delicious drinks! Your ticket comes with 1 included drink. Codename Entertainment: We make games because we love games. Codename Entertainment was founded in 2008 in beautiful Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. This award-winning studio has been responsible for two of the titans of the idle strategy genre, including Idle Champions of the Forgotten Realms, currently the most played Dungeons & Dragons game on Steam. Extra Credits: Because Learning Matters! Since 2010, Extra Credits has discussed a variety of educational topics, from video game design to world history, via animated video lessons, with 2+ million YouTube subscribers. We also host online game jams multiple times a year that have produced hundreds of new games and inspired folks of all skill levels to discover the joy of game development! While this is an open-ended party where you can come and go as you please, we do have a couple of specific activities planned! 7:00pm - Party starts 7:30pm - Extra Credits Talks Games And History - Join us for a live interactive discussion about some of the things we love best, moderated by Matt! 8:30pm - Content Creator Collaboration, hosted by Codename Entertainment! We have worked with High Rollers both to adapt some of their characters into our game, and, perhaps more interestingly, to co-integrate into each other's games. Idle Champions players were able to impact the events of High Rollers episodes just by playing the game!  9:30pm - Design Club Live, an Extra Credits fan favorite, is happening again! We pick a MYSTERY game and, starting with the main menu itself, completely break down and analyze every design decision we can find. 11:00pm - Go home and get enough sleep for day 3 of PAX West! (Optimism Brewing is still open until midnight.)   FAQs Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter? Do I need a PAX badge? No, this is an all-ages venue. Optimism Brewing only checks IDs at the counter for purchasing alcoholic beverages. You do not need a PAX badge to attend our specific event! What are my food options? You can absolutely bring your own food! There is also food available for purchase from the food truck located in the courtyard inside Optimism itself. (Food trucks rotate daily; we don't know right now what type of food truck is expected to be there at the time of the party. That said, there are literally dozens of dining choices within walking distance of Optimism, and you're welcome to bring in to-go food from any of those places if you'd like!) Can I bring games to play? You can definitely board/card or Nintendo Switch games to share if you'd like. Think "small and contained" games rather than games with many components that sprawl out. Keep in mind the space we've reserved in the venue is set up for casual mingling/networking, and/or attending the planned panels during the night. Please do not set up a playtesting or demo "station" for your own created game(s) as our particular private party area can't accommodate these. (You can wander to a public, non-reserved table in the rest of Optimism if you want to set up a more elaborate game with others.) Is the event space physically accessible? Yes; there are no required stairs to navigate, and Optimism is unusually large for being a "bar." The layout of the main floor is designed with lots of space between tables, and has a clearly defined order-at-the-counter line. However, as this will be happening on a Saturday night during PAX West, it will be crowded (both with attendees at our event, as well as other Optimism customers).  Are there gender-neutral restrooms? Yes; in fact, Optimism designed their bathroom as one single "restroom hall" divided into private, full-length-door stalls. You can see more pictures of Optimism's interior space here. What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event? Optimism Brewing is about 0.5 miles east from the PAX convention center, located in the Capitol Hill neighboorhod. It's still urban Seattle, so parking is limited, scattered, and comes with various restrictions. We strongly recommend these options: 15-20 minute walk somewhat uphill (about 150 ft of elevation spread out over the route) 5-minute drive in a Lyft/Uber/taxi Right next to multiple bus lines and the First Hill Streetcar (check Google Maps or One Bus Away) What's the refund policy? No refunds. However, you can transfer your ticket to someone else by editing the registration information at any time. Do I have to bring a printed ticket? No, in fact we'd prefer if you didn't--we end up recycling them anyway. Just show us the ticket on your phone! How can I contact the organizer with any questions? email: contact (at) extra-credits (dot) net
