Gallery North February Featured Exhibit - “The Echo of Faraway” by International Artists, Curated by Silena Gallery

Gallery North and Silena Gallery are holding their first joint international artists exhibition in February, 2019. “The Echo of Faraway” will feature paintings by a group of established Chinese artists including Chinese pigment painter, Hao Wang and oil painters, Guochen Cui, Jinliang Li, and Liwei Lang.

Hao Wang, who specializes in abstract Chinese pigment ink paintings, combines Chinese Folk art with western aesthetics and vibrant color to convey a story of love in each of his paintings. Hao was born into a traditional Chinese family of folk artists and showed a strong interest and talent in creating art at an early age. As he matured as an artist, he developed a stunning style that is very distinct from other contemporary artists in China. Hao’s work has been exhibited in Chinese art museums and in nationwide art competitions in China, as well as in Egypt and Italy. His works are in the permanent collection of the Guan Shanyue Art Museum in Shenzhen, China.

Another featured artist will be oil painter and plein air artist, Guochen Cui whose works are included in collections worldwide. Guochen, a national signature artist of the Chinese Native Art Association, studied under Wenxin Zhang, a Master Signature Member of the Oil Painters of America. Through the years, Guochen has absorbed various influences including impressionism to create his own unique style, which is characterized with free, bold brushstrokes, and yet maintains a sophisticated elegance. For over four decades, he has created countless masterful paintings capturing his hometown, canal cities, the countryside and various distinct locations in China.

In addition to Hao Wang and Guochen Cui, the exhibit will also feature oil paintings by Jiliang Li and Liwei Lang, each with their own unique style.

The public is invited to the opening reception for “The Echo of Faraway,” held on February 3rd from 1pm to 4pm at Gallery North, as well as the Edmonds Art Walk on Feb 21st from 5-8pm. There will be a drawing for a free print of an artist’s work on Sunday the 3rd. This exhibit will be open to the public from February 1st to February 28th.
