It wouldn't be springtime in Seattle without this annual visit from one of the most famous modern dance companies on the planet, famed for its powerful and ever-timely tributes to our shared humanity through magnificent music and movement. The Friday and Sunday programs at the Paramount Theatre are scheduled to feature Talley Beatty's Stack-Up, set in the midst of L.A.'s '70s disco scene, and Kyle Abraham's large ensemble work Untitled America, which explores the dramatic impact of the prison system on African-American families. The Saturday show includes Billy Wilson's 1992 tribute to Dizzy Gillespie The Winter in Lisbon and veteran company member Hope Boykin's r-Evolution, Dream, that melds creative storytelling, new music by Ali Jackson and the historic writings of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Closing out the performance for all three shows is Alvin Ailey's signature piece, Revelations, called "one of the great works of the human spirit" by The New York Times.
