      Founder's Award Recipient
      United Methodist Women

United Methodist Women is the largest denominational faith organization for women with over 800,000 members whose mission is fostering spiritual growth, developing leaders and advocating for justice.  Due to a new scheduling conflict, Harriett Jane Olson—General Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of UMW—will no longer be able to attend the event.  Accepting the award on behalf of the organization will instead be Yvette Richards, who serves as UMW National Board President.

      Nasser Alumni Award Recipient
      Jok (John) Nhial
A desire to get an education is a value that Jok Nhial has been willing to risk his life for.  Jok was born in 1985 in Bor, Sudan.  Two years earlier, a war began to rage in the southern region of the country.  By 1991, a six-year-old Jok, along with his nine-year-old brother, was forced to flee his home.  Jok and his brother became two of what the U.S. would later call The Lost Boys of Sudan.  Now an adult with degrees from Gonzaga University, Jok leads a nonprofit organization focused on education and leadership in the world's newest recognized country—South Sudan.
